Version 2026-09-04-draft

Draft, pending counsel review

Terms of service and the confidentiality statement

What this workspace is

Emergence is a controlled workspace for researchers preparing a technology for disclosure, licensing and, where it fits, a company. It is not a public chatbot, not a law firm, and not a replacement for your technology transfer office. It surfaces questions, names the person who decides each one, and shows its sources. Nothing it produces is legal advice, and every date it calculates is marked for confirmation with counsel.

Where your answers live

While you answer the assessment without an account, your answers stay in this browser. When you continue to create an account, they are held on our servers for up to 14 days, so they can be attached to the project you create on this device or another; answers nobody claims in that time are deleted. When you register, your answers are attached to a project you own. Documents are stored privately, reached only through signed, expiring links, and never publicly addressable.

Model access

Where a model reads your material, it does so under commercial terms that exclude training on your data and are configured for zero retention. Findings, next actions, the disclosure draft and the questions for your office are composed by fixed rules from your own answers, not written by a model. Model training on your project is off unless you turn it on.

What leaves, and when

Nothing about your project leaves it without your approval. Drafts and packets are shown to you in full and sent only when you say so. In the design-partner phase a founder reviews your diagnosis and any packet before you see it or it leaves; every edit they make is recorded on your project and shown to you as theirs.

Who can see what

You own your project. People you invite see what their role allows and nothing more, and every access is logged where you can read it. Nothing about you, your technology or your institution appears on any public page. Any sharing with investors is off by default and turned on only by you, per field group, with a record of who looked. The project's audit history records who did what and when, and the network address each change was made from.

Accepting these terms at registration records the version above and the time of acceptance on your account.
